Derby Daily Express, 6th June 1916:
George Moon was educated at Derby School and at Birmingham and Edinburgh Universities. At the outbreak of war, he was employed as assistant medical officer at the Kent County Asylum, Maidstone, before offering his services to the Admiralty. ‘He was an enthusiastic cricketer and footballer’, and he ‘played occasionally with the Derby County Reserve team at football, whilst at cricket he assisted the Friars and other local clubs.’
